Props for your Senior Session

Your senior year is finally here, and it’s time to start thinking about your senior casual session. There are so many things to consider when you are planning your session like locations, outfits, hair, and makeup. Another thing to consider is what to bring to your senior session. I have put together some ideas of props for your senior session.

Flowers

Flowers are a great way to bring extra color, texture, and beauty to your senior session. They can also provide a fun job for your hands during your session. I love finding fields of flowers, but unfortunately, they are not always available depending on the season, so sometimes we have to improvise. Kroger is my favorite place to buy flowers to bring to the session location. You can use flowers in your hair or as a flower crown.

Hats

Hats are a fun prop, and a great way to express your personality. When you’re wearing a hat, you can experiment with different ways to style it—differently than the way you normally would. Wearing a hat in some of your photos can be a great way to add in more variety to your final gallery because you can do so many pose variations. I love to have my seniors tip their hat to the side and hold on to the hat in different places. It’s also cute to hold the hat down on your side. There are so many ways you can use hats that make your session a little more fun.

Jackets or Cardigans

A jacket or cardigan can be used to help give variety to your outfits. You can use it to add a pop of color by wearing it over your outfit, or you can hold onto it during warm days. You could even wear a long sleeve shirt under the jacket and have both visible in the photos. There are so many statement jackets that are so fun to add to your session outfit lineup.

Sports Equipment

This is a great way to show your personality and bring some fun into the session. You can approach it in two ways. The first would be to have the sports equipment play a part of your session, such as having me take photos while you are playing on a field or court with your friends. Or you could choose specific props like a uniform, ball, letterman jacket, championship ring, etc., for your photos to bring to another location.

Pets

Pets are a terrific prop, but they can also be an excellent way to make your senior session unique. Nobody else will ever have a session with your same pet!

If you love dogs or cats, bring them along to the session. Not only will it make for some great images of you and your four-legged friend, but it can also help you feel more comfortable during the shoot. You might even get some additional bonding time in between shots! And I might get to love on your fur baby too. Horses, goats, pigs, lambs, and cows are all welcome to come.

There are so many fun and creative ideas of props you could bring for senior sessions that you can’t go wrong with any of them. Props truly can bring your session to life with your personality and make it truly unique. You’re only a senior once, and it’s a great time to truly splurge and give yourself the session you are dreaming about. I would love to hear what other ideas you have for props for your senior session.
